Heating inserts – High-quality products born of experience: Camina Schmid SD 11 E
Heating inserts ensure optimal heating of your furnace system.
Many of these heating inserts serve as replacement units and can be equipped with very high flue gas temperatures, large heat storage capacity, or high warm air distribution. These units are characterized by exceptionally low-emission combustion, exceeding legal requirements.
Stove Body
The stove body is made of durable cast iron. This material has proven its worth over decades. "The essential cast iron material" for every heating insert.
Multiple Glazing
The multiple glazing reduces heat loss through the glass pane by approximately 30%, increases combustion chamber temperatures, and keeps the glass clean for longer. (Triple glazing for SH 9 / 11 D, SH 9 / 11 T, Profi K Kristall 7 / 12, Change HB / RF, Profi W 7 GL / W 7 – Front Profi K Kristall)
Interior lining
Camina-Schmid fireboxes are equipped with solid firebricks. These are placed dry into the unit without mortar.
Wellenstein catalyst
The mixture of flue gas and supplied hot secondary air ensures the afterburning of even difficult-to-ignite gases at the hot baffle surfaces of the Wellenstein in Schmid fireboxes.
Combustion air
The proportions of the firebox, the air volume and direction of the combustion air, as well as the arrangement of the flue gas deflector, determine the efficiency and operation of a fireplace.
Secondary air rear wall
Camina & Schmid fireboxes are equipped with a cast iron secondary air rear wall, through which the combustion air is supplied for improved combustion. The combustion gases are directed to the tips of the flames. The cast iron back panel also supports the side bricks of the inner lining.
Transport casters
The transport casters on the rear base of the heating unit provide a simple assembly aid. They allow the heavy unit to be aligned on the support bearing.

Protective measures/safety instructions for installation (wood fires and stoves)
The following protective measures and safety instructions must be strictly observed:
- Fireplaces may only be installed in rooms and in places where the location, structural circumstances and type of use do not present any hazards.
- No modifications may be made to the appliance.
- Only use the approved system for exhaust gas removal/combustion air supply.
- Work on the stove system Installation, commissioning, maintenance and servicing work on the appliance may only be carried out by an authorized specialist company.
as the safety and functionality of the system depend on proper installation. - The installation must be carried out by a registered specialist company, as the safety and functionality of the system depend on proper installation. You must observe the applicable trade regulations and building regulations.
- Fireplaces must be installed in an operationally safe and fireproof manner so that hazards and unreasonable nuisances cannot occur. They must be fit for purpose for a reasonable period of time.
The appliance is designed to create a cozy atmosphere and to heat. This means that all visible surfaces, including the glass, can become hotter than 100°C. It is recommended to always place a protective grille in front of the appliance when children, the elderly or physically disabled persons are in the same room.
Protective measures/safety instructions for installing gas fireplaces
The following protective measures and safety instructions must be strictly observed:
- Installation and maintenance of the appliance may only be carried out by a recognized and competent installer in the field of gas heating and electricity.
- No modifications may be made to the appliance.
- Only use the approved flue gas extraction/combustion air supply system.
- Procedure when installing a free-standing appliance: place the appliance at the specified minimum distance from the rear wall (see information in the instructions).
- Do not cover the appliance or wrap it in an insulating blanket or other materials. Ensure that there are no flammable objects and/or materials in the radiation area of the appliance. This radiation range is 500 mm, unless otherwise specified.
- Only use the set included in the scope of delivery, for example the wooden block set or the pebble set, and place it exactly as described.
- Leave the space around the ionizing pin and the ignition pin free and never place any incandescent material around these pins.
- Make sure that the gas pipes and connections are clean and free of any impurities. Install a gas tap in accordance with the applicable regulations.
- Check the entire system for gas leaks before commissioning.
- Check the entire system for gas leaks before commissioning.
- Ensure that the pressure equalization hatch(es) at the top and/or bottom of the appliance are not blocked and check that these hatch(es) are well connected to the sealing surface before installing the appliance.
- Do not ignite the appliance until it has been fully installed in terms of gas technology, exhaust technology and electrical technology.
- Do not use the appliance if a pane is broken and/or cracked. The pane must be replaced first.
How to install a built-in appliance:
- Use fireproof and heat-resistant materials for the fireplace surround, including the top of the fireplace surround and the material inside the fireplace surround, such as the floor under the appliance and the rear wall in front of which the appliance is installed. Both panel materials and stone-like materials can be used for this purpose.
- Take appropriate protective measures to ensure that the wall behind the fireplace surround and the materials or objects located behind the rear wall do not heat up too much.
- Observe the minimum specifications regarding the internal dimensions of the fireplace surround. These have been specified for safety reasons and to avoid extreme heat build-up in the fireplace conversion.
- Ventilate the fireplace conversion using ventilation openings. These openings are crucial for safety and to prevent extreme heat build-up in the fireplace conversion.
- The electrical connections must be heat-resistant.
- Position the heat-resistant power connections away from the appliance and as low as possible in the fireplace surround.
- This applies in connection with the temperature development in the fireplace surround.
The appliance is designed to create a cozy atmosphere and to heat. This means that all visible surfaces, including the glass, can become hotter than 100°C. It is recommended to always place a protective grille in front of the appliance when children, the elderly or physically disabled persons are in the same room.
