The Urfeuer Fireplace 50/66
"Feel, smell, hear a wood fire – be up close, without a glass pane or any other technology. This probably oldest type of fireplace still exudes an incomparable charm today. A more exhilarating fire experience is impossible."
BRUNNER has been producing original Urfeuer fireplaces since 1996. With new, sophisticated designs, they now adapt to every living situation in their current version. Modern, streamlined, minimalist with cast-iron protective panels that effectively extend the combustion chamber.
An Urfeuer fireplace means concentrating on the senses – not on heat output. For dreaming, relaxing, and feeling good. A deceleration aid in these hectic times.
SAFETY: An important detail for an open fireplace is the spark guard. Regardless of whether "sparkling" softwood is used or, after the fire, from a The firebox needs to be protected from falling embers for safety reasons. This safety feature is standard on all Urfeuer fireplaces. The spark guard, made of black-painted stainless steel mesh, is lowered upwards via a smooth and stable guide. It is guided technically like a glass ceramic and equipped with counterweights. The great thing about it is that even when lowered, no technology is visible, as this mesh and its mechanism are guided in a narrow gap between the fire protection panels. Access is simple and easy, as the fire protection panels can be removed without tools. It only remains to be mentioned that during a burn with the spark guard pulled down, this grate is not "visible," i.e., not visually noticeable.

The art of designing an open fireplace for living spaces lies in preventing the escape of smoke gases. The patent-pending in-house development of a special exhaust system for BRUNNER Urfeuer fireplaces ensures smoke-free operation even in enclosed spaces. Pressure equalization with the room air: Open fireplaces extract a large amount of the existing air in the room through the open opening. Older buildings ensure that this air can flow in through leaks, such as cracks and gaps around windows and doors.
Current construction methods with insulated and airtight building shells deliberately prevent this. Therefore, Urfeuer fireplaces regulate pressure equalization via a generously dimensioned outside air connection (ø 250 mm). This ensures that the fire is supplied with sufficient “afterflow air”, which is also preheated at the same time and thus supplied to the rooms in a pleasant way.
Note:
Open fireplaces are not classified as heating appliances in Germany. Ventilation systems remain deactivated during operation.
Urfeuer fireplaces are tested according to EN 13229 (EN 16510 Part 2).
