These double-walled liners are ONLY required for "brick" chimneys! The wall liners are made of sheet steel and allow the connection of steel stove pipes to a brick chimney. The sleeves are usually unpainted and oiled, as they are used with mortar! However, some of these items are also supplied painted, and the paint may then have scratches, but this is not grounds for complaint!
